    The LMHosts / Hosts files could be used to block all updates, and could be rotated with a batch script to have two buttons on the desktop "Allow Updates" "Block Updates" These options would be booting based, so would remain in effect until changed, and would require a reboot to go from one to the other.

    There's also the idea of setting your Internet connection to "Metered" which is supposed to stop win 10 auto updates and allow for manual selection...

    BTW- I found this interesting...

    [Windows Update Delivery Optimization is on by default ]– "If you did Express Settings during the Windows 10 setup, you agreed to have this feature enabled."

    So maybe all you have to do is re-install Win10 and don't do the 'Express Setup'. That may give you manual control again.

    Just sayin'...
