  • Keyboard condoms

Today, i received my Newegg order of keyboard condoms AKA o-rings for my Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2016 keyboard. I love the keyboard but its loud and annoying at times. I found 2mm Rosewill clear o-rings and installed them today. Razer switches actuate at 1.9 mm but bottom out at 4mm. The clear by the way allows for the led to still shine through properly. I must say my typing is quieter and faster. My keys are bottoming out at 2mm not 4mm. I will be seeing what this does for me in game tonight. Anyone with a Cherry MX or compatible switches in their mechanical keyboard could benefit from these. But be aware of actuation point vs. bottoming out point so you dont screw yourself.

If you subscribe to Newegg's daily email blasts they have a Corsair mechanical keyboard on sale TODAY ONLY for $54.99. Unlike some companies that copy the Cherry design Corsair uses genuine Cherry MX Red switches. That's a great price for a mechanical keyboard.

Don't know if these links will work or not.

Razer, Logitech, Steelseries, and "others" all use keys inspired by or directly copied from Cherry. Kailh, also known as Kaihua Electronics, is a major China-based switch manufacturer that makes Cherry Clones even using the same color scheme and interchangeable keycaps.

Cherry also makes a key called the Cherry MX Speed which is Gray in color. Designed for fast pace gaming it is also QUIET.

Here's a nice little article showing some of the different key switches on the market.

It looks like Deck uses Cherry. Another similar line to consider is DAS Keyboards. They use high end materials and build a rock solid board.

Sweet article Blues. Definitely a keeper. Makes me want to go out and buy a couple.

I love Newegg. A Corsair for $54.99 is a steal. But sadly I just purchased a new one about 2 months ago.

Someone mentioned the old IBM clicky keyboards that were built like a tank and lasted forever. It turns out that there is a company in Kentucky that is still making these "M" style keyboards and they are pretty reasonably priced compared with some of the mechanical switch keyboards out there. They are wired only and have USB connection. Available on Amazon.
