    Hey Freak,
I've got an ATI Radeon 9800 pro left over from a recent upgrade, if you want it it's yours. I don't have any plans to use it and the anti static packing is just collecting dust.

I bought the 7600 GS 512mb agp8x. I personally think if your gonna upgrade you video card you should get more memory on the card. That way whatever speed your gpu is it has lots of room to render things. I play @ 1280x1024x32 with no problems. Although the 7600GT looks like it has better cooling that the GS.

So do you want (less) faster memory or (more) slower memory is teh question. Heres a link to my card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814133176 Its like $20 beans less too.

I would wait 'till ut3 comes out and build a new rig based on those system requirements.

I use a 9800 AIW 128 here at work and it plays ut2004 with no problem. I would take Ranger up on his offer and save teh money for the new rig.

You didn't mention what card you have been using....

The 9800 pro is a great card. I'm running an Asus 9800xt and run several games at the highest setting with no issues. I also, would take Ranger up on his offer.

            Ooops, I lied.
            It's a 9700 pro, still a good card and I got great performance with UT2004 on a 19" lcd at 1280 x 1024.

Yes, you can upgrade it, if it has the right substrate board & chip on the card. A search will turn up more info on it.

My kiddo is running a stock 9700 and plays 2004, City of Heros among others with no issues. There is actually very little difference between a 9700 and 9800 as far as I'm concerned. I sent old_timer my old 9700 and last I checked he's still using it.

                  **edit **

                  I found a comparison between the 9700 and 9800 using UT2003... http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?...hlbnRodXNpYXN0

Got a 6600gt now was running at core-589mhz mem clock-1.08ghz. Turned it way down and lowered all my in game effects.I even backed my cpu down from 2.8 to 2.4 hoping to cool the card down. Now I' running with the side off of my case to get even cooler. Not kicking out as often but still does.

Well... I still wouldn't buy another agp card. I'm mobo, gpu and memory away from my new rig firing up ...I just can't seem to buy the gpu and mobo because I'm afraid something twice as good is about to be released...lol. My rig seems stable again and it plays '04 fine, so I can afford to wait just a little longer....

                              Good deal Freak...

Maybe we should start a thread for all our old parts sitting around that we could sell/trade/give to those in need. I know I have some stuff, not primo stuff...but stuff I could offer.

                              What y'all think?
