  • F***ing Bollucks!

I'm going to have to re-install windows soon as I made a dumb mistake in implementing dynamic disks, which apparently UT doesn't like. I keep getting this common bit of text in each error message:

    History: FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Realloc <- 10910191 0 FArray <- FArray::Realloc <- 0*2 <- FMallocWindows::Free

Ever see this? Any ideas? This screams dynamic disks to me. I dunno, stupid me, Idunwanna re-install. Crap.

I would uninstall and reinstall UT before wiping all of the drive, it's worth a shot since you'll most likely be backing it all up.

Copy your UT2004 folder to another drive and then uninstall it completely then delete the original UT2004 folder entirely and reinstall UT2004 from scratch and try that. I run dynamic NTFS with no problems.

I would do the same, try UT first before you do the big nasty.

Been there done that, twice. As soon as i started having problems i re-installed ut, thinking it was the new version of CUT:2 that may have screwed something up. I still had the same error message as before, all with that line of text as above, at the end of the every GPF error message. Been having trouble with quake now too, random exe errors and such.

I also have been futzing around with my local security policy, as i believe that i have had some security problems (on XP go figure lol) and i was trying to harden my system. I fuct it up and had to apply a factory security policy.

So between my meddling and such I believe I pooned myself. Also I forgot to mention that i'm using a hardware RAID solution as my system disk, which is the one I converted to dynamic, and the mind boggles.... lol.

That is a memory error I'm sure. Test your memory.

          Post the entire crash log.

<sigh> that crossed my mind as well, i hope i didn't burn up my corsairs(value). Though it would make sense since it seems to be a different faulting module almost every time.

cant post the whole BSOD minidump, forum says its too many characters.

Heres one of the larger GPF's i saved, the last line is always the same, along with various stuff added on to it depending on where i'm @ in the game, playing - menus etc. it crashes everywhere, even botmatches. I have a few crash logs saved in txt files if ya want to look at 'em.

I agree with Raker after researching a bit. I found a few other forums with UT crashes and simular errors and memory seems to be related to thier fix. Run a memory test and see what happens.

                1. Know of a good diagnostic tool?

*EDIT* - NVM, googled it lol

**EDIT2** - Ran windows memory diagnostic from boot floppy, no errors found, goto:1

Get memtest. They have a link to it on the Corsair forums somewhere, for that is what they have customers use.

                        Thnx min, raker.

Yes memmaker rocked! I used to be good at tweaking dos memory settings, used to roll with a clean boot disk and a doom demo disk - word.
