I like Yngwie too, although a lot of times he tries to play every note of every scale into every bar of his music lol! Still, he has some serious skill.

There are only a few hard core heavy metal guitarists that I
admire and Malmstein is one of em! Anyone ever listen to John
Butcher Axis? I think heavy metal went astray in the early 70s.
Instead of the Black Sabbath model, and I like Ozzy BTW, I think it
should have patterned after Hendrix's style. Ok... we see some pop
stuff like Robin Trower, Prince and Lenny Kravitz. My 2 cents! ...

Hey Non........You listen to any of Roy Buchanan's stuff? Another amazing talent gone to waste.
This is just him messing around in the studio.
Having a dog named "Shark" at the beach was a bad idea!

Roy Buchanon rocks. If you like hendrixy sounding guitarists, I always liked John Butcher Axis... maybe similar to Roy Buchanon a little.
As far as heavy metal, I don't like too many of them but Inguie Malmstein (sp?) is a good one to check out.
Robin Trower from Procal Harum also had a few minor hits with a sound that was not at all like Procal Harem but was kinda like Hendrix (Bridge of Sighs).
I see u have Jeff Beck above... he is one of the very best at fusion rock - his Little Wing version is pretty amazing and comparable to Stevie ray Vaughn's cover.
If no one has mentioned John McLaughlin from the group Mahavishu Orchestra... was a all-star jazz-rock fusion lineup like no one has ever or since put together.

John McLaughlin (sp) also did an album collaboration with Carlos Santana, another guitar Wiz I have always enjoyed. Sometimes McLaughlin used to appear in concerts with Santana but he is getting up there in years and not sure he is still active. McLaughlin had some killer solo albums in the day before Mahavishnu. The Santana duo was callied something like "Love Devotion and Surrender. The Mahavishu Orchestra's albums that I remember were excellent were "The Inner Mounting Flame" and "Birds of Fire". I saw them live in the early 70s. I recall McLaughlin had a great solo album I liked around 1970 titled Devotion. He was into far eastern mysticism, kind of like another of my favorite guitarists, George Harrison and Santana also was introduced to that by McLaughlin and their duo album was influenced by that stuff. Santama may consider McLaughlin a mentor.
