If you are buying for now and the future yeah I would eat the losses until you get an new MB CPU DDR4 combo. Just one thing to ask because I am lazy and didn't look into the specs of the case itself, how much room you got in your case? I would ASSUME it gives you plenty of room for a large card since its Alienware?

If you're looking at a 1050 card with 4GB, you might just as well consider the 1650. Same price and memory, slightly newer and with better specs.

The older Alienware stuff (Pre-Dell) might have a larger case to accommodate a bigger vid card. The newer Alienware stuff is basically a Dell case with a plastic overlay to make it look more "alien". If you look at Dell's G5 series gaming PC's, the inside of the case is exactly the same as the later Alienware PC's.

Here's a comparison between the 1050Ti and the 1650S (super).

I'm sorry. I missed that. your avatar was talking to me about going out for coffee......

My card is 10.5 inches long, i have a ton of room for a longer card, Could probably do 13.5 long? The thing that confuses me is the fact I've got a "bridge" that's mounted to the top of the vid card that supports its back end. basically a slot that the card is hanging from. at the outlet it's supported by the PCIe slot, and case, on, the front of the case this metal bridge. It's held onto the backside of the vid card by a bunch of small Philips head screws.

I used to use http://cpuboss.com and http://gpuboss.com very similar to the site Bluesman posted but it's been a few years since I built my last rig they could be outdated.

Google is your friend. Checked there and with Amazon. Both showed good pricing.

CS..........B&H Photo sometimes has good pricing on PC components and peripherals. They are a devout Jewish company so you can't get anything from them on Saturday (thier sabbath), but they generally have decent pricing and do a pretty good job.

Good looking card. My only question is if its DDR6, why is its bus bandwidth only 192? Wont make much of a difference but I am puzzled too...I would expect 256 or 512 bus. Maybe I am too much a geek?

GOT ME! I've been outa shit so long it's not even funny. I come in, computer is running and i'm happy. now....vid card isn't happy and I'm not happy. so it's gotta go!

I did just realize with this new vid card i'll need to get a different sound card as well. my current card is a PCI card and will block 1.5 fans on the new vid card. I have one more slot on this and luckily it's a PCIe slot. back when I got this comp, the PCIe cards were ridiculously expensive so I skipped it then now I can replace my current card for about $40. sooooo now looking at a newer sound card too.

My new PC also has a GTX 1660 Super, made by Zotac though. Specs look similar except mine says GDDR5 not 6. Mine's also a LOT shorter in length that the Gigabyte.

I looked at that card too, Since I'm folding, i figured the extra cooling capacity with the 3rd fan and extra heat sink was worth it, to keep a vid card that runs at 98% load 99% of the time was worth the extra bucks. For the $30 more i wanted that peace of mind.

I understand Cheeze. My current gaming rig has a Gigabyte GTX 760 and the 3 Windforce fans was one of the reasons I picked it over some of the other vid cards that only had one or two.

Well I got my new GTX1660 Super Card. but I hadn't realized that it has an 8 pin Molex power supply, and my current rig is twin 6pins. I have ordered the pigtail to adapt them over but it'll be next week before I have the chance to sit and go through the pain of deleting and reinstalling drivers for the different cards.
