Beta Map Testing?

  • Beta Map Testing?

    EDIT:

    I've finished the map (unless glitches are found...I didn't find any)

    Unreal Playground

    list of Changes in the map!

    -Added a larger skybox.
    -Rotated weapons around a bit
    -Changed the V shaped hallway so the slope isn't as steep
    -Fixed Lighting problems
    -Added a small new hallway connecting the first and second levels
    -Added a spot for the Super Shield Charger (pillar near rockets)
    -Zoned everything off (for those that don't know zoning increases your FPS)
    -Added a few more ledges for easier access to cross the map

        tested both mappy maps

        I tested both maps a little bit and heres what i think.

        DM-1on1whatever:

        1. There are lots of black pillars along the perimeter of the map, need to turn the lights on.

        2. Map plays well, however it's a little big for 1v1, maybe shrink it a little?

        3. I was told that it needs a skybox, whatever that means.

        4. Name suggestion... umm how about: DM-1on1-Nudge

        DM-Halbred

        1. A little bright in places, like near rox, and middle areas. red light for rox...anne? lol :P

        2. Great map except its a total rape fest 1v1 lol.


        Overall two good maps, good job Necron
        Mind as muscle, Body as energy, Spirit as thought.

          1. Fixed (in the soon to be final version) guess I forgot to re-build after copying those pillars.

          2. I thought about shrinking it but to do that I'd really have to get rid of some hallways....I think most of the hallways are necessary. Maybe it just isn't a 1v1 map.

          3. hmmm, it has a skybox....though maybe It needs a better one.

          4. I like it! sounds great, but I'll wait and see if it can do something to make it smaller....if not I'll use that for another map!

                yes I can...though to be honest, I don't play VCTF so I'd have to play it some to get the feel for it.

                    well, I first started mapping in UT99, the unrealed engine isn't alot different than it was then, mainly the terrain and liquid has changed and of course static meshes have become a mainstay instead of brushes....but to be honest, I love brushes, I find the light is cleaner.

                    I still visit a lot of tutorial sites because some stuff is really complicated (ie: moving doors and triggers).

                    basically though. to make map like DM-Carpark isn't very hard, you'd only need to know basic knowledge...something like DM-AkBal on the other hand requires a lot of time and patients.
