Well I saw this thread so i grabbed the map and took it for a tiny spin.
I gotta say, i'm impressed. The level design itself is pretty basic, but the textures and the lighting, is really something to write home about. I was particularily impressed with the room directly above the LG. With the ball, and shadows being cast all around. I looked like faked shadows.. but still really good anyway. And the metallatic reflective bars were very cool too. Lastly, I liked how the water lead aound the temple and out. It was a nice little effect that i appreciated.
I've never gotten into level design myself, but if this took you a week, it sounds pretty easy eh? or maybe you're just a pro at it
Either way, keep up the good work! Psyched to see what else you come up with.

Yes, the lighting was faked. I used lightmaps for everything.
Most maps are created using UnrealEd and the UnrealEd lighting... however I did the modeling and lighting in 3D Max, then imported it all. It's a different way of level design, but it's how a lot of the Epic maps were built. That's why they look so good.
The reason it only took me a week was because it was a simple design, as you pointed out RED. The only reason it looks as nice as it does is because of the lighting and specular texture effects. It's the cheap and easy way to make a good looking map.
