dam primary HDD is slowing me down i havent got around to figuring out how to get the most out of it yet, but i will..

after all, it is a velociraptor 10K drive, and should be doing better than what it is, even tho it is lightning fast now compared to what i had before..

Tried everything I could find,got rid of the error in task bar but no physx card present in device manager & the ? mark on pci device.

I ended up disabling mine, I could never get the OS to see the driver. I'm hoping a revised driver is on the way to correct this, although Pheonix does have his working.

Got 2k4 loaded with 64 bit patch & all seems fine.The 8800 cards are suppose to have physx compatibilities with the new drivers,the physx card did seem to help though.

I simply did a clean install of Windows 7 and the drivers for my GPU and physX card were bundled so I just ran the setup and everything worked. If they downloaded the latest drivers for their card from nVIDIA, I am not sure what the difference could be. If you're using an nVIDIA card, the drivers are bundled, but somehow, windows is still not recognizing the device. Maybe Windows is looking in the wrong place.


Maybe you can load the original drivers for your PhysX cards with the disc that came with them. If win 7 isn't recognizing the device or saying drivers not found, loading the original disc and running setup from it may help. Or insert the disc into your drive, go to device properties for your card, and select to search manually for drivers and select it from the disc. I haven't had to do this, but it's worth a try. And hopefully if that works, then you can update accordingly.

I have a sneaky suspicion that my drivers are getting installed to the wrong directory. I can look in System32/Drivers and there are no new drivers in the folder after the install. I'll look when I get home and see if I can unzip the exe and manually install them myself.

I went to nividia & had it search for the right drivers,which win7 installed older drivers but physx still no worky.

I have been reading up more on this issue trying to help fix this for you guys. I learned an interesting thing. The PhysX drivers that are included with the nvidia drivers are for the actual GPU's PhysX engine (GeForce series 8 and up), not a separate physX card. The physX drivers (software) that is bundled with the GPU drivers basically is just that, software that optimizes hardware acceleration. So if you're using a separate physX card, the drivers bundled with the gpu's would NOT be recognized by your separate, hardware physX card. And I made another discovery. Turns out my separate physX card is not recognized by windows 7 either upon further investigation. I assumed in the nvidia control panel when it gives the option to enable physx and I enabled it with no problems, then it recognized the card. Turns out that is the GPU's PhysX engine, not my actual, dedicated, PhysX card. So of course I tried to get the drivers through windows with no luck. I am downloading the actual physX card drivers and software (different versions, so far no luck) and will let you guys know the results.

*Edit* Well I have tried older versions of the PhysX software and runtimes, but it only says that a newer version is installed. I was reading nvidia forums with people having the same issues with the nvidia drivers for their ageia cards. It seems that nvidia no longer supports the ageia cards, but uses the physX software to accelerate their own gpu's. (in the case of SLI, the second card is used as a dedicated physX processor.) If you ask me, this is a whole lot of mess. Going to try to install original drivers for the physX card now and will let you know the results.

*EDIT 2* I tried installing the original drivers and software form the disc that came with it, it only says a newer version is installed so I am at a loss at this point.

*Edit 3* In your SysWOW64 folder (Windows folder) there is the original physX control panel [physXCompatCpIUI.exe] where you can select the GPU or the Ageia physX card for physics processing. However in mine it has the ageia card greyed out and it says it isn't installed. I dunno where to go from here. The only thing that may work is to try to install original physX hardware driver over the newer nvidia one. You still should have the newest gpu driver but with gpu physX disabled and your hardware's physX card's enabled. I have not tried this but it may work.

I unsinstalled 9.09.0428 and installed 8.09.04 first and then updated and it's working! (Kind of embarrasing really )

So basically, install the driver version you linked first, then we can re-install the latest GPU drivers with the PhysX driver bundle? Yep, worked like a charm.

*Edit Now that we have a fix for the Ageia PhysX card, after selecting the physX to be rendered by the ageia physX card in the nvidia physX control panel, in the nvidia control panel, should we have GPU physX set to off or on?

I have no nvidia control panel, I use an ATI card. I'm trying to access the control panel now but it's playing hide and seek (and winning).

I installed the driver you linked and it worked great, even let me select the physX card to render physX over gpu. When I installed the latest driver, it blanks it out and says to select from nvidia control panel, in which the control panel only offers you GPU physX....man....

I can't find any place to see any physx info, but my device manager is happy.
